Behaviour is communication!
All behaviour is understood as a form of communication. As part of a team around the child/young person, we work in collaboration to begin to understand the function of the behaviours presented and to create individualised positive behaviour support plans.
The support plan is designed to ensure that every young person receives the personalised support they need to succeed, fostering a culture of understanding, respect, and achievement in every environment.
Therapeutic support for Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) involves providing targeted interventions that help individuals, especially children and adolescents, develop key skills for managing emotions, building healthy relationships, and making responsible decisions. The support can be integrated into educational settings therapeutic sessions and specialised SEL programmesdesigned to foster emotional awareness, empathy and social skills.
Therapeutic practitioners work to create a safe environment where individuals can practice these skills, receive feedback, and gain insight into their emotional responses and behaviours. The goal is to promote mental well-being, resilience, and positive social interactions, which are essential for academic success and overall life satisfaction.
Children and young people with speech, language and communication differences may have difficulty in communicating with others. This may be because they have difficulty in saying what they want to, understanding what is being said to them or they do not understand or use social rules of communication. They may have difficulites in one, some or all of these areas and needs will likely change over time.
Our specialist support provides developmental assessment and support, working in collaboration with Speech and Language Therapists, when needed.
We understand that children and young people may experience sensory and physical differences which impact their ability to access and engage within different environments.
Our skilled team are able to use a range of therapeutic assessments to support the team around the child/young person in understanding how best to make adaptations to environments, positively impacting on emotional well-being, behaviour, access to learning and engagement.
We offer professional development opportunities for educators and other professionals to provide the best chance of the programme being successfully for the young person. Our training is designed to enhance skills and knowledge of the young person, their needs and to understand the strategies used and the underpinning need.
We work in collaboration with Social Care, Health Clinicians, Residential Care Homes and other professionals and organisations to create bespoke packages of support. Example packages can include support for:
- Emotional Well-being
- Positive Behaviour Support
- Supporting and facilitating
transitions between provisions
