Several pupils from Park House School attended sessions with Gemma at Evergreen Wilderness. Following discussions with school staff, Gemma devised bespoke and indivisualised programmes of therapeutic intervention to support each pupil in achieving specific person-centred outcomes, which would positively impact their ability to have meaningful and functional interactions with others and develop and apply strategies to regulate their behavioural responses to interpersonal and environmental factors. Gemma delivered a training session to school staff, ensuring that staff understood ‘the role of the adult’ when supporting sessions and that all staff understood the therapeutic intervention being delivered. Some pupils attended group sessions, while others attended 1:1 sessions. Gemma’s extensive skills, knowledge, experience and nurturing approach enabled all pupils to make excellent progress and achieve the goals set, which were based on their identified needs. Feedback from the multi-disciplinary team of school staff celebrated the impact of the devised programmes and observed the impact of the sessions being transferred into school and in a wider range of community venues. In addition to progress towards/achieving the identified goals, pupils also developed skills in critical thinking, positive risk taking, resilience and problem solving.
"The intervention from Evergreen came at a time when things were quickly becoming out of control and felt totally unmanageble for our family. Gemma provided an enviroment and an approach which was calming, low pressured and at a pace that enabled my daughter to start to feel in control again. Everything always centred around her needs always highlighting achievement however small. At the begining just arriving but not being able to get out the car was still given so much praise, so we could gradually see her self esteem rise. Gemma has been a lifeline for our family and we will be forever grateful. We are now at a slightly bigger enviroment, mixing with other adults and peers, something we could never see beng a possibility. As a family we cannot thank Gemma enough and would truly recommend her to anyone in a situation where mainstream just does not fit or is
too overwhelming for your child."
"I learnt to be safe. I loved Evergreen. I miss Gemma"
